Thor Heyerdahl: Google pays tribute to adventurer famous for 1947 Kon Tiki expedition
NEW DELHI: Google on Monday created an interactive doodle to commemorate the birthday of the late legendary Norwegian ethnographer and adventurer Thor Heyerdahl.
The internet giant has created one of its iconic illustrations to pay tribute to the man who recreated a Peruvian raft.
Known for leading the Kon-Tiki expedition of 1947, Thor Heyerdahl was born on 6 October 1914. The Kon Tiki expedition was inspired by old reports and drawings made by the Spanish Conquistadors of Inca rafts and by native legends and archaeological evidence suggesting contact between South America and Polynesia.
