Nigeria militants attack wedding convoy, kill 30 including groom

Yola (Nigeria): A wedding convoy in Nigeria's Borno state was attacked by suspected Islamic militants who killed over 30 people, including the groom, reports said Monday.

No one has so far claimed the responsibility but majority of attacks in Nigeria are staged by Boko Haram militants.

The wedding convoy was attacked when the groom and the guests were being driven to Adamawa after the official Muslim wedding ceremony of fatiha, which had taken place in Firgi village.

According to an eyewitness who saw the dead bodies on the road, other than killing the people, the militants also slit the throats of few.

"We saw a lot of dead bodies killed by gunshots and some by the roadside that appeared to have been slaughtered" with their throats slit, a taxi driver told reporters.
