LONDON - British police said early Friday they had
released on bail two people who allegedly held three women as slaves in
their London home for more than 30 years.
The
couple were arrested at the house at about 7:30 am on Thursday (0730
GMT) as part of an investigation into a suspected case of slavery and
domestic servitude, London's Metropolitan Police said.
The pair were bailed until a date in January, police said.
A
Malaysian woman, 69, an Irish woman, 57, and a British woman, 30, were
all rescued from the house, police said on Thursday, after one of them
contacted a charity to inform them of her plight.
Metropolitan
Police Detective Inspector Kevin Hyland said on Thursday his force had
"never seen anything of this magnitude before."
