The Blackberry’s Messenger BBM coming to Android and iPhone

BLACBERRY'S MESSENGER (BBM) COMING TO ANDROID AND IPHONE

The Canada-based handset makers, RIM’s, agreed to offer their messenger service to Android and iPhone. This was a feature that made their smart phone considered unbeatable. Could this be that they have given up to their competitors?

BlackBerry has officially announced that its popular chat service, Blackberry messenger BBM; will be available for Android-powered phones from today, September 21 2013 and for iPhone owners from tomorrow September 22 2013.

From today, Android-based smartphone users will be able to download BBM from Google play store. Please, this does not mean that its video and voice calling services will be available on these two platforms as of now.

Not minding the fact that RIM’s where the first and hugely popular producers/manufacturers of the instant messaging application the world over, they have allowed
BBM to cease to exist as an exclusive BlackBerry phone service from today. One of the reasons why many people end up buying BlackBerry's was its BBM service as it had revolutionized mobile communications.

It sounds as good news for many Android and iPhone users but for the RIM’s; it's like succumbing to pressure from its rivals. Apple and Samsung Electronics have emerged as the world leaders in the smartphone market and have left BlackBerry far behind through constant product innovations and efficient marketing strategies,

BlackBerry, Once a world leader, is now struggling to stay afloat in the ever-growing smart phone markets and its decision to open up the BBM for other platforms is an attempt in this direction.
